More than 40 staff whacked from Mafia dev 2K Czech

Two studios under the 2K Czech brand have been the target of a redundancy program that trimmed their staff by more than 40 developers.

According to information obtained by Develop Online, 2K has cut about 40 developers from their studio in Brno, and another studio in Prague has lost “less than ten.”

Before the layoffs, 2K Czech employed about 200 people. So the redundancies cut between 20 and 25 per cent of their work force.

“This will result in the elimination of approximately 40 positions and primarily impact the 2K Czech studio in Brno. While this was a difficult decision, we believe it will benefit the studio in the long-term,” reads a statement from 2K Czech’s parent company, Take-Two.

2K Czech was the brand behind both of the Mafia games as well as Top Spin 4 which has reportedly been selling out in the UK.
