When it comes to relationships it takes only a few brief words to say and do the exact wrong thing.

True Meaning: “I don’t actually care why you’re upset with me, what I can do to make you feel better or how I can learn from this experience so I don’t hurt you again. I’m just annoyed that I have to deal with it.”

Variations: “You just don’t get it.” “You don’t listen.” “If you have to ask then forget it.” “God, you’re an idiot.”

True Meaning: “Maybe I don’t know how to articulate my feelings. Or maybe I know you actually won’t understand because your head is so far up your butt that you’re looking out your own mouth. Either way, we’re not getting past this any time soon.”
