While Assassin’s Creed: Revelations will wrap up Ezio and Altair’s story, Desmond’s story will continue, but only for another year, Revelations’ creative lead has said.
Alexandre Amacio has said Desmond’s story, which revolves around the world ending in December 2012 – when isn’t it ending – is in need of wrapping up by then.
“In Assassin’s Creed we set up a timeline with this whole end of the world plot of December 2012,” Amacio told Eurogamer. “That’s fast approaching, and the story we have to tell, we obviously need to do it before we arrive at that point.
“We had such a complex and strong narrative that we ourselves did our best to just try to execute these games before that date. It would be stupid of us to be centring a game on a semi-reality and then have that conclusion happen after that date in real life.”
After Desmond’s conclusion, when Assassin’s Creed returns afterwards – if it does – it’ll be back with a new central character and without a yearly-release schedule to boot, according to Amacio.
Assassin’s Creed: Revelations releases on November 15 in the US and November 18 in the UK for PS3 and 360. The PC version was recently delayed.
Watch for pieces on ACR from both Eurogamer Expo and a press event happening in London today in the near future.
