BlizzCon: GSL Finals – SlayerS_MMA bests IMMvp 4 to 1

By Stephany Nunneley

BlizzCon hosted the first Global StarCraft League finals held outside of Korea last night at the Anaheim Convention Center in California, and the event pitted two Terran against one another for a $100,000 prize. In a five-game bout, underdog SlayerS_MMA bested IMMvp, four games to one.

While IMMvp was favored to win over MMA in the GSL finals, MMA started the first game off with “proxy barracks and factory,” guessing IMMvp would start with a “fast expand”. Guessing correctly, he apparently used siege tanks before IMMvp could react to his assault.

In the second game, MMA used Marines and Marauders in a defensive move against IMMvp’s Siege Tanks, which worked, because he won the second match.

For the third match, IMMvp’s tanks “rolled over the heavy bio and fast expand,” of MMA, so he won that round.

IMMvp, fresh off a victory in the thrid round lost the fourth game after trading bases.

In the fifth and final game, MMA used “medvac play and nukes” to defeat IMMvp.

So folks could watch the match between the two, the convention center was left open late, and both halls were filled to capacity with spectators.
