Rumor – EA and Valve trying to patch things up for Battlefield 3

By Stephany Nunneley

According to an anonymous source speaking to BF3Blog, EA and Valve in late negotiations to try and release Battlefield 3 onto Steam.

The report is said to have come from someone inside Valve, which stated that is all goes well, the DICE shooter will be made available on Steam in time for its October 25 release.

EA and Valve are rumored to be hammering out an agreement regarding sales of DLC, which was one of the main reasons EA pulled some of its larger titles off Steam. EA was balking at the idea of Valve requiring all DLC to be sold through Steam if the game is on the service, with EA preferring to sell released DLC via its own devices and directly to the consumer.

Earlier this week, EA executives said Origin and Steam weren’t in direct competition, and that it would be a bit ludicrous to assume so, considering publishers both work with and in rivalry to other companies all the time.

The Battlefield 3 beta is in full swing at the moment, with DICE announcing yesterday that while admittedly a month old, the beta has attracted six-times the number of player its beta for Bad Company 2 did the year prior.

Thanks, GameFront.
