Sega has confessed it doesn’t plan on localising strategy RPG Valkyria Chronicles 3 for sale outside Japan.
Despite the critical acclaim and cult success of the first two games, Sega’s console sales manager Hiroshi Seno told Gamespot a localisation wasn’t on the cards for the third entry.
The PSP’s relatively poor performance was cited as the reason behind the decision, as well as poor sales of Valkyria Chronicles 2.
A small light of hope was offered, as Seno didn’t rule out the possibility of a downloadable Vita release.
Valkyria Chronicles 3, which like the second game was released on PSP only, performed so strongly in Japan that it’s about to see re-release as an Extended Edition.
The first Valkyria Chronicles released on PlayStation 3 and won many a SRPG fans heart with its washed-out anime stylings, large and varied cast, and tactical gameplay.
Thanks, GameInformer.
