One of the things I love most about Harry Potter is that the characters, no matter what the size of their roles, are all very richly drawn. In fact some of my favorites characters are what might be considered supporting roles. Don't get me wrong, I love Harry and Hermione and Snape and Dumbledore as much as anyone, and I would definitely be on board for more of them. But here's a look at eight supporting characters I think should also get a chance to star in their own feature films.
Luna Lovegood
Of all the supporting characters in Harry Potter, Luna is definitely my favorite. She was adorkable LOOOONG before Zooey Deschanel made it fashionable! Plus she got friggin' hot! Maybe she can star in one of those rom-com movies that people seem to like for some reason. Nerdy naturalist gets a hottie witch makeover and then the wizard of her dreams? Only Luna could ever make me see one of those flicks.
Moaning Myrtle
George Weasley
Nothing is more riveting than the sad clown. I would love to see George find happiness after the devastating loss of his partner in crime, twin brother Fred. Kind of like a Sleepless in Seattle, maybe Wide Awake In Weasley's Wizard Wheezes? Only more catchy?
The Dursleys
I know they were huge a-holes to Harry, but you have to admit they were extremely amusing. And Dudley came around at the end. Maybe they can take in a gaggle of orphans, who teach them a lesson or two! Let the hijinks begin!
Gilderoy Lockhart
How awesome would it be to see Gilderoy Lockhart get the Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy' treatment? Avada Kedavra is wizard for whale's vagina afterall.
Rita Skeeter
Rita Skeeter would be perfect in a The Devil Wears Prada type comedy. Can you imagine Miranda Priestley with magical abilities? I think everyone would enjoy seeing Rita make Anne Hathaway's life hell at the offices of the Daily Prophet. I don't know why but everyone really hates Anne Hathaway now for some reason. She's like the new Gwyneth Paltrow.
Dolores Umbridge
Wouldn't you love to see what Umbridge would be like as a teen? In these modern times? A little A Very Potter Sequel, a little Mean Girls. It could be called Did You Get My Text? Tagline: Well you didn't text me back, bitch!
Neville Longbottom
Neville got hot, that's why. How about a movie version of the 'He will never have a girlfriend' meme? Hey, they make movies out of lame video games and board games, so why not? Get ready to spit out your cereal, world!
