Video: game controller works by monitoring muscle impulses

By Andrew Groen

A new controller unveiled on YouTube this week works entirely by monitoring the impulses of any four muscles. They’ve even released a video of a user beating a level of Super Mario Bros with it.

Developed by biomedical company Advancer Technologies, the controller works by monitoring the state of whatever muscle it is attached to. A flex in the muscle create a small electrical surge that gets picked up by the device.

And it’s also fairly functional as well. The man in the video may well be a trained rep for the company, but we’re positive that many disabled gamers will be willing to put in the effort to master this controller if it means being able to play Super Mario Bros.
