N-Control, creators of the Avenger, an external adapter which houses an Xbox 360 controller boatsing the ability to improve reaction time and more fluid movements, has donated $10,000 to Child’s Play, and has pledged to donate $50,000 worth of Avenger accessories should the charity “find a need for it” and plans to continue donating to Child’s Play in the future.
N-Control has also started work on bringing the Avenger into military hospitals, and says it has accelerated “existing plans to develop new custom add-ons that will meet the needs of a wider range of disabled gamers.”
The Child’s Play donation comes on the heels of an email back-and-forth between a customer who ordered the product and the firm’s PR representative at the time, Ocean Stratagy’s Paul Christoforo.
Apparently, the customer was wondering why he had not been informed that the device would not shipped by the promised date after pre-purchasing it, which eventually resulted in an incoherent email meltdown by Christoforo.
Things got worse after Penny Arcade and PAX co-founder Mike Krahulik became involved. You can read the entire back-and-forth between all three parties here.
In the end, Christoforo was dumped as a PR rep by N-Control, and the firm apologized for his behavior.
Meanwhile, N-Control has suspend new direct sales for Xbox 360 and PS3 units for the time being until all backorders are filled, and in order to ensure sufficient product inventory worldwide.
Customers interested in placing new orders should look for it and request it at Buy.com, NewEgg, ThinkGeek, Amazon, GameStop, Fry’s, MicroCenter, BestBuy.com, and independent gaming retailers.
