You know what? I'm just going to say it. I like the show Glee. I like it a lot. I like it when they sing Journey. I like it when Rachel and Finn get back together. I even like it when they sing two songs I hate on their own but are amazing together. These are what's called a "mash-up". I know enough about Glee to use the term "mash-up". It feels good to finally get that out there.
That thing I've been trying to tell you about but didn't know how.

And the best characters on this show, without question, are Rachel and Kurt. Unfortunately, the Glee writers painted themselves into a corner by establishing them as high school sophomores in the first season, so now in the third season, the question becomes: What do you do with these characters after they graduate? For awhile the answer that had been bandied about was to give Rachel and Kurt their own show. And can I just say, as much as I enjoy it, Glee would be a lot better if I could just watch the two best characters and not have to deal with the superfluous nonsense that is the rest of Glee.
From left to right: metaphor for Glee, metaphor for Rachel and Kurt

Yes, the original plan was for Rachel and Kurt to get a Glee spin-of where they would move to New York and chase their Broadway dreams. And while there are some negative connotations to the term "spin-off", I think it's important to remember that some of our greatest TV shows have been spin-offs, such as Laverne and Shirley, which was a spin-off of Happy Days; Sh*t My Dad Says, which was a spin-off of a Twitter feed; and Friends, which was a spin-off of the 1988 film Maniac Cop.
This episode was called "The One Where You Have the Right to Remain Silent... Forever".

But the Glee spin-off has been called off, if it was ever even on to begin with. Speaking at the Television Critic's Association winter press tour, Fox entertainment chief (sweet title, brah) Kevin Reilly said there would be no spin-off, but that next year will find a way to integrate at least Rachel, and that the way they would do it will make it a "cool season". I'm not sure what that means, exactly, but I'm pretty disappointed that there won't be a spin-off, so it would have to be a pretty cool season to make up for that.
The only acceptable level of cool.

So how about it? Would you have watched a Glee spin-off? Or do you want Glee to stay exactly as it is? Do you think you just ultimately fear change? Let us know in the comments!
