Austin-based Critical Mass Interactive and cast members from the 1999 film The Boondock Saints are hosting a panel at SXSW next month, and according to a flyer noticed first by Joystiq, and the developer’s official website, a game based on the cult-classic is in the works.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about a game based on the shoot-em-up film.
Last year during SXSW 2011, Boondock Saints director and writer Troy Duffy told folks he was considering a game based on the films and even said he had “heard a pitch and even played a early part” of it.
This must be the game he was speaking of, because over on Critical Mass’s official website, the firm noted it was “awarded interactive development rights to the popular franchise.”
It also made note the movie has an “established Facebook fan base of over 4 million and growing.” Hopefully, this doesn’t mean it’s a fucking Facebook game.
The developer’s website has the flyer posted under the heading “Road to E3”, meaning we can probably expect it to be shown at the event.
Until then, though, more information regarding it should come out of SXSW 2012 which runs from March 9 through March 18.
