Minecraft Pocket survival update out now

By Brenna Hillier

Mojang has released the delayed update for Minecraft: Pocket Edition on Android, adding in much-requested survival features.

The Android Marketplace version of the update dropped over the weekend, but designer Daniel Kaplan tweeted that the iOS version is still awaiting verification.

The update adds a health bar, mobs, and the need to gather resources before use, but crafting is not expected until the next update. Creative mode is still accessible.

The mobile version of Minecraft has sold over 700,000 copies, but Mojang has no plans to bring it to Vita despite the game’s release as an Xperia Play-verified flagship title.
