THQ Japan shutting down February 29

By Stephany Nunneley

THQ has announced its to shutter its branch in Japan on February 29. According to the report on Impress Watch, all staff will exit the firm as well and the closure is due to the recent financial issues surrounding its US parent. The firm will enter in negotiations with other manufacturers and publishing arms to release games in the region. Before opening its own arm in the country three years ago, the firm looked to companies such as Spike for licensing games in the region. Support for users of existing titles and the official site has yet to be determined. With respect to Asia Pacific, THQ’s Australian and Shanghai China offices are also to be scaled back. Thanks, Andriasang.
