MCV has posted ChartTrack’s monthly figures, it looks as though UK games sales were down 30% year-over-year for the month of January, with revenue coming in at £59.2 million.
As with the NPD charts in the US, the lack of new releases was a contributing factor to UK’s decline, where as in January 2011 the month was bolstered by the releases of Dead Space 2 and LittleBigPlanet 2.
FIFA 12 was the best-selling game for the month in the region, followed by Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3. The only new release in the top 50 was Resident Evil: Revelations which released in Europe on January 27.
In total 2,781,786 games were sold at UK retail in January, which is a 27.7% decline compared to the year prior.
