Aren't you getting sick of 'liking' and 'friending'? It's so BLECH! And Facebook has yet to offer its users the much desired 'dislike' button. So what's a hater to do? Well, luckily some hater loving techies have created a new Facebook app called EnemyGraph. Simply put it allows you to declare friends, groups or pages enemies and helps you connect with others who hate the same things you do! Bringing people together because of a mutual hate...what a lovely concept!
One of the apps creators, Dean Terry, likes to think of EnemyGraph as 'a kind of social media blasphemy'. He claims he isn't trying to turn Facebook into trollbook but just exploring other ways to connect. "Most social networks attempt to connect people based on affinities...But people are also connected and motivated by things they dislike." EXACTLY!
EnemyGraph also tracks trending 'hates'. Right now some of the most popular 'hates' are Rick Santorum, Nickelback and Farmville. And honestly who wouldn't like hating those things? Farmville players have it coming to them! Sorry Great Aunt Adele!
Another cool feature the app offers is something called dissonance reports. The app will inform you when one of your friends likes something that you have declared your hate for. Which I guess should spark some interesting discussions. Why do I get the feeling I'll be getting A LOT of dissonance reports regarding my 14 year old cousin? Bieber, Twilight, Uggs, Glee...so much to hate. Poor thing! At least she's not a delusional Belieber.
Of course the idea of declaring your hate on Facebook is SO popular that EnemyGraph is facing all kinds of technical difficulties, but Terry says the problems should be fixed soon, cause haters gotta hate and they gotta hate now! I can't wait to connect via hate!
