F1 2012 will feature a Young Drivers Test mode, publisher Codemasters confirmed today alongside the game’s announcement, locking in the racer for a September release.

F1 2012 will launch in September for PS3, 360 and PC, Codemasters announced today, 13 hours before the start of the first qualifying session of the 2012 Formula One season in Melbourne, Australia.

The publisher announced a multi-year extension to continue being the exclusive provider of Formula One titles earlier this week.

The game will feature a Young Driver’s Test mode, giving players tutorials on how to handle an F1 car and challenge for a drive in the Formula One World Championship.

To celebrate the announce, Codies has released its first video featuring game director Stephen Hood in Abu Dhabi during the Young Drivers Test, held at the end of last season.

The video features several up and coming drivers for the future, including McLaren test driver – and Force India reserve driver for Australia this weekend – Gary Paffett, Mercedes’ Sam Bird, Toro Rosso’s Stefano Coletti, Force India’s Max Chilton and others.

Also confirmed are “new features, wide-ranging technical and gameplay advancements and extensive competitive and co-operative multiplayer components,” as well as the inclusion of Austin for the US Grand Prix near the end of the year and the return of Hockenheim for the German Grand Prix.
