Kickstarter has stated
in a blog post that 61,692 first time backers were brought to the service thanks to Double Fine Adventure, leading many to help out with other projects in need of funding.
Of the 61,692 new backers, which make up 71% off all backers, 13,715 (22%) of those have donated $875,000 to 1200 projects with $250,000 given out to projects outside the realm of games.
Before the Doubele Fine pledge, the service saw approximately 629 pledges a week climb to 9,755 a week since Schafer announced his firm’s pledge drive.
In the two years since the service was started, $1,776,372 had been pledged to game projected, and within six weeks of the Double Fine Adventure announcement, $2,890,704 had been pledged outside Schafer’s project.
Other interesting figures of note: Before Double Fine, one game project had exceeded $100,000 – now nine have; and inXile’s Wasteland 2 project has received nearly $400,000 in pledges from Double Fine’s first-time backers.
