Paradox Interactive debuts three new games at GDC

PC specialist publisher Paradox Interactive has unveiled three new games for its GDC 2012 showcase. Check out debut trailers through the break.

The Showdown Effect hails from Magicka developer Arrowhead Game Studios and offers “an infinite amount of ways to customize your gameplay” through a massive arsenal of weapons ranging from old favourites to kitchen implements. It’s a platformer at heart though, with a 1980’s action movie bent. It’s an online game for both Mac and PC, and supports up to eight players with multiple game modes.

Dungeonland is a multiplayer dungeon crawl in which one of four players can take on the role of dungeon master and attempt to squash our intrepid heroes. It’s set in a theme park for heroic types, luring them in with the promise of the best dungeon crawl around – and hopefully, their untimely deaths. If you prefer to play the good guys, there are three classic classes to choose from, there’s plenty of gear to seek out and customise your character with. The AI dungeon master produces randomly generated levels, offering high replayability. It comes courtesy of Critical Studios, for Mac and PC.

RED Frontier is a real time strategy with a twist from Swedish developer Zeal Game Studios. Set a couple of hundred years in the future, it sounds a bit like a sci-fi MOBA, with character progression and instant respawns.
