The Hunger Games Sets Box Office Record!

Daniel Dominguez

This weekend The Hunger Games broke box office records by making more money  than even the Mayor of District 12 will ever make in his entire life. It made $155 million dollars in the U.S. alone, which is enough for the film's director and producers to never have to eat a single squirrel again.

Did you know that Gary Ross, the film's director, used to have to eat these?

On account of the astonishing success of the film, the film's star Jennifer Lawrence, and it's director Gary Ross, have both moved into charming apartments in The Capitol.

Jennifer says she plans to use the money she made from the amazing opening of the Hunger Games to buy a slave from District 7, cut off his tongue, and use him as a footstool for when she's relaxing at home.

Jennifer Lawrence first gained critical acclaim from her harrowing role in Winter's Bone, where she played opposite Jim Carrey as a mischevous, but ultimately good-hearted Christmas Elf who had to help Santa remember the true meaning of Christmas. I should point out here that I have not seen Winter's Bone.

Hunger Games also starred many other notable actors, including Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, and for some reason Lenny Kravitz. Lenny Kravitz is best known for being famous even though no one you know owns any of his CDs, and also for being attractive enough that animals try to break into his house and have sex with him when he is asleep.

Lenny Kravitz is picture here being just as confused as to why he's famous as the rest of us.

Jennifer Lawrence, the film's star, has said that she was nervous about portraying Katniss because she's such a huge fan of the books. It's that kind of adorable humility that we all have grown to know and love. She says she is excited the film did well and can't wait to play Katniss in the remaining two films. However, with it being such a lot of work preparing for the role, she's looking forward to a much needed break. Jennifer has told reporters she's going to take a nice long vacation, and use some of the money she made off the franchise to buy a hovercraft, so she can fly around the outlying districts using impoverished children as target practice, laughing all the while.
