Funcom launches The Secret War browser-based social experience

By Stephany Nunneley

Funcom has announced the launch of The Secret War, its browser-based social experience where you and some pals can battle other secret societies. Based on the MMO The Secret World, players will start off by taking a “personality test” to determine what secret society they belong to and then engage in a secret war while recruiting agents through their Facebook friends list. The more you play, the more you will rank up and unlock rewards which can then be used in the MMO when it launches. Rewards range from clothing, weapons, and more. Guaranteed access to beta weekends starting May 11 can also be unlocked, and a trip to Montreal to meet the developers can be won as well. Another prize will see the winner’s name “embedded into the game at launch.” Sign up here. Over 750,000 gamers are now registered for the ongoing beta testing and the game launches on June 19.
