Microsoft is to air a a new five-part live-action series for Halo, known as Forward Unto Dawn, ahead of Halo 4’s release later this year.
Full details on the series are being kept until ComicCon later this year, but the story will involve a young USNC cadet that’s inspired by Master Chief and how he will tie in Halo 4.
The five-parter will air on Halo Waypoint and Machinima first. This is “the largest investment” Microsoft has conducted in live-action affairs, even more than the shorts preceding Halo 3 that were directed by Neill Blomkamp.
“Web series as a way “to make ‘Halo’ accessible for people who haven’t played the games,” said 343’s director of franchise business management Matt McCloskey.
“We wanted to do something unique from a narrative standpoint that’s big in scale.”
Full details on Variety. Halo 4 launches on November 6 for Xbox 360.
