Japanese Poster Reacts When You Give It Sweet Kisses!

Mikey McCollor

A research group hailing from Tokyo's Keio University has crafted a poster that will react to your hot, smoldering kisses. No, not with revulsion! With excitement! No everyone can have a cute Japanese lady give you positive feedback for staying home by yourself in your apartment!

Japan: Intent on maintaining its' status as the loneliest country in the world.

When asked why they would make this— why, why, a thousand times why— one of the members of Team Poster Kiss, as I have no choice but to assume they are called, said “I’m a big fan of pop idols, and I have posters of them in my room. It bugged me that the posters didn’t move at all." I can't even fathom the type of person who would watch the Harry Potter movies, see people moving in the wizard photographs, and say "yeah, that's the part of this world I want to be real."

"Sweet ghost stag to protect me from monsters? I could take it or leave it."

The semi-living poster works with a camera that reads how close your lips are to the screen and the images change accordingly— from anticipation when you move in to kissy face when you're right up against it to finally an adorable hint of embarrassment when you lean away. The programmers have expressed interest in making the poster woman aware of other sense like smell and touch as well. But I hope they don't stop there. I hope the woman in the poster can learn enough about you to become self-aware. And even then, I hope she becomes self-aware enough to realize that she is a woman in a poster. Not only that, but a woman in a poster bought by a man who would buy a woman in a poster.

Clearly Japan is one of the most technologically innovative countries in the world, but when they waste their time on so much silly nonsense I can't help but be angry at them. It's like your cousin who can take apart and put back together the washing machine. You're going to be pissed if he doesn't pursue engineering and instead goes to ukulele college.

Especially because ukulele college isn't even a thing.
