Leisure Suit Larry remake is latest high profile Kickstarter project

It looks like another classic adventure is aiming for a comeback via the Kickstarter route.

This time it’s a remake of 1987 Sierra adventure game Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards which is being pitched.

The game’s original development crew – Al Lowe, Josh Mandel, Sabine Duvall, and Leslie Balfour – has come together again and united forces with Replay Games in order to make the remake a reality.

The team is aiming for $500,000 in funding via Kickstarter in order to make the game, which will be a full re-imagining of the original classic.

The team says it’ll be built from the ground up featuring “a modern point-and-click/touchscreen interface”, “updated, ultra-high res graphics” and “fully voiced characters”.

If the initial plan to remake the game is successful, the team plans to remake the rest of the series as well.

If the project crosses it’s targeted $500,000 dollar mark, then the additional money will be reinvested to fund additional language tracks, and to release the game on other platforms besides PC and tablets.

The Kickstarter page for the project shows some concept art and a promo clip giving you a sneak peak at how the game might look if it becomes a reality.

“We get all of your fan mail everyday and reply to as much of it as we possibly can,” reads the project’s Kickstarter page.

“This is what drove us to create this Kickstarter campaign. Had we taken this idea to a publisher, they would’ve turned us down cold since they think adventure games are dead.”

Leisure Suit Larry follows the exploits of the womaniser Larry as he embarks on a quest to seduce chicks around the world. The last game in the series released back in 2009 in the form of Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust.
