Analyst expects Diablo III to sell 3.5 million units in 2012

Stern Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia expects Actvision-Blizzard’s Q1 FY12 financial results, which will be reported on May 9, to be in line with street expectations and feels the firm’s Diablo III will be a potential catalyst for the firm’s stock pricing. Speaking in an industry note, Bhatia said with that even with Diablo III “releasing after a gap of 12 years,” it has the “potential to sell more than 4 million units life-time, including 3.5 million units this year.” The analyst noted Diablo II had sold 4 million units by August 2001 within 14 months of its release in June 2010.

Likely the game will sell extremely well, and we expect many people to call in sick to work come May 15.
