Rovio announced in its latest financial report that its Angry Birds franchise has been downloaded 1 billion times.

The firm also reported revenues of $106.3 million with pre-tax profits of $67.6 million – which is 64% of its total revenue.

According to CEO Mikael Hed, the firm is still considering whether it will file for IPO, and said the firm’s latest title, Angry Birds Space, has been “a major success.”

“We have a few games coming up including a new game outside of the Angry Birds family,” he told AllThingsD. “Our animation studio is working on Angry Birds animation series which will come out later this year.

“The business for 2012 looks very good.”

It was reported yesterday that a Windows Phone version of Angry Birds Space isn’t far off.
