South Park is for sure one of the funniest and bestest shows ever. Don't even try to deny it, yo. One of my favorite things about the show is the songs. They are friggin' GENIUS. I'm a huge fan of filthy, funny song parodies, so naturally I worship at the alter of lyrics like " I wanna get down on my knees and start pleasing Jesus / I wanna feel his salvation all over my face." It's not really dirty, y'all! It's about Jesus...SMH. Here's a look at 10 Of the Best South Park Song Parodies ever. And let me just say that it was damn near impossible to narrow it down to ten. WORD!
Wendy's Song--Something You Can Do With Your Finger
If I was 8 years old when this episode came out, I would've sung it nonstop, much to the dismay of my mother. Sadly I was much older and it was my boyfriend at the time who was fed up by my incessant singing of this song and all the other songs from this episode. Needless to say he's my ex now. I can't get down with anyone who doesn't appreciate the brilliance of Fingerbang.
A Lonely Jew On Christmas--Mr. Hankey, The Christmas Poo
This song shows the softer side of South Park. If I was Jewish I would sing it with my future children every Hanukah.
Gay Fish--Fishsticks
The episode itself is friggin' HALL OF FAME. And this song is absurdly brilliant. The only thing bad about this song is that I have to admit to WORSHIPPING a Kanye song. And that it's responsible for that time I had to face my sister's wrath after her 3 year-old was singing about gay fish at pre-school.
Circle Of Poo--A Very Crappy Christmas
Yeah, yeah, when the song is called Circle of Life it's nominated for an Oscar. But when it's called Circle of Poo not even an Emmy! Get this straight awards voters...POO IS LIFE! And your digestive track is a circle. No wait, it's a straight line. Circle would be bad. Like one man human centipede bad.
Uncle F**ker--South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut
I can NOT be the only person who sang this non-stop after seeing the movie. Plus there's a virtuoso fart solo break. IN YOUR FACE, YO YO MA!
Chocolate Salty Balls--Chef's Chocolate Salty Balls
This song makes me wistful for the days when Chef was an awesome character and not a loser character who had to die a brutal death because he was voiced by an uptight Scientologist. You might say he went from singing about chocolate balls to dying with what appeared to be..well...chocolate balls. You know cause he pooed himself when he died. Whoa. That even grossed me out and I have a pretty high icky threshold.
Vote Or Die--Douche & Turd
It's kind of hard to believe that Puff Daddy's real campaign was actually called Vote or Die. Get a grip dude! This song takes that threat literally, while it also imparts the light-hearted instructions for us to shake our titties when we do vote. Nice!
The Faith +1 Songs--Christian Rock Hard
The best song parodies are nearly indistinguishable from the ones they mock. Such is the case with the oeuvre of Faith+, Cartman's Christian rock band. I mean honestly, is "Pleasing Jesus" really any worse sounding than "Help Me Get Down On My Knees" a song by a real Christian artist?? Nope!
Where Were You When They Built That Ladder To Heaven--A Ladder To Heaven
One thing the writers on South Park really do well is taking on taboo comedy subjects. Ain't nothing more taboo than 9/11 jokes! I rally hate these type of saccharin patriotic country tunes. I'm pretty sure hating them doesn't mean you hate your country. It's like, in the Constitution.
Joseph Smith--All About Mormons
This was the first time I think I really thought South Park was more than just hilarious. I knew for sure, after viewing this episode, that it was GENIUS. I remember wanting to see a whole damn Mormon musical after this one song. So not only are Matt Stone and Trey Parker hilarious geniuses, they also make dreams come true. Now I just need to get tickets to Book of Mormon when it's in L.A. this fall. Maybe I should make a Kickstarter or something? Cause those tix are expensive!
