Marketing companies are known for having no sense of morality. That's basically all that Mad Men is about. Sometimes they go too far and market adult or dangerous products to kids by using familiar cartoon characters. Luckily for us, they are all hilarious. Here are the Most Inappropriate Uses Of Cartoons In Advertising:
The Flintstones Selling Winston Cigarettes
The Flintstones will put their name on just about anything. Here they are trying to ruin the lungs of the youth of America with Winston cigarettes. Cigarettes are one of the worst things you can put in your body and The Flintstones are one of the worst things you can put in your brain. They go pretty well together.
Mr. Magoo Selling Stag Beer
I always thought Mr. Magoo was just a nice old man that couldn't see very well. He would clumsily bumble around and then get into fights with people. When you know the truth about Magoo's crippling addiction, the show changes from an adorable romp to a documentation of the devastating effects of alcohol addiction.
Shrek McDonald's Glasses
This one isn't quite as obviously inappropriate as the rest of the list. The reason that this made the list is that these glasses were laced with the toxic metal cadmium that cane cause lung, kidney, and bone damage. After McDonald's was outed by an anonymous tip, they recalled 12 million of the glasses and gave glass owner's $3 for each glass as hush money. Don't forget to drink your milk!
Pokemon's Beer Bar
This bar probably isn't officially licensed to use the name Pokemon or the image of Pikachu. That doesn't make it any less inappropriate. I hope all of their drinks are Pokemon themed. Pikachu Electric Lemonade. Snorlax Sangria. Meowth Margarita.
Bart Simpson Scientology Robocalls
Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Bart Simpson, is a member of the Church Of Scientology. In 2009, she recorded a robocall that called people in Los Angeles to try to get them to attend a Church Of Scientology event. I wish more famous voice actors would do this for their religions. I would love to hear Kermit The Frog speak out in favor of snake handling.
Hello Kitty Wine and Beer
These are just despicable. They are blatantly marketing to little girls with these products. The scariest thing about these is imagining the lonely 30 something year old dudes who get drunk on it alone in their mom's basement. Well, they're not completely alone. They have their Hello Kitty blow-up doll to cuddle with at night.
The Flintstones Selling Busch Beer
What a surprise! The Flintstones are on this list twice. As I said earlier, The Flintstones will sell just about anything. Here they are selling one of the worst tasting beers on the market, Busch. To be fair though, they probably can't taste anything since they've been smoking so many cigarettes.
