EA Origin sale offers up to 87.5% discount

EA is offering substantial discounts on 18 titles available through its digital distribution service, Origin. The discounts come despite comments made earlier this month by Origin head, David DeMartini, who said that Valve risked cheapening intellectual property by offering heavy discounts through its weekend Steam sales.

At the beginning of June, Origin boss, David DeMartini said of the deep discounts sometimes offered through Steam:

“We won’t be doing that. Obviously [Steam] thinks it’s the right thing to do after a certain amount of time. I just think it cheapens your intellectual property.”

However, Origin is currently offering 18 titles at £5 each, with discounts ranging from 37.5 percent on action-puzzler Warp to a whopping 87.5 percent on RPG Dragon Age: Origins, which has been reduced from its list price of £39.99. A number of titles have been reduced by 50 percent or more.

Thanks, RPS.
