During Google I/O 2012 this week, Gaikai presented a look at the service using Google’s Native Client (NaCL) which will allow games to start streaming without the need for downloading or updating Java. In fact, it won’t require any downloads at all or permissions from Java – something Gaikai CEO David Perry mentioned he was previously trying to eliminate. Using NaCL, Gaikai can run at 60fps, and to show how well it runs, the firm demoed Bulletstorm – posted below – running on a Samsung Chromebox during its stage demonstration. No date on when we can expect the full version for Chrome to release, but it’s apparently coming “soon.” Thanks, Polygon.
