SCEE president Jim Ryan has said Sony as a whole still intends to support 3D but only when needed.
Sony’s 3D focus at E3 seems to have diluted this year compared to previous year. The company showcased it at its press conference as the next big thing in 2010 and continued with it as an ongoing pursuit last year.
This year, that has died down, with non of the content from the Sony press conference shown in 3D.
But Ryan has said in a CVG interview it’s still something it’s aiming to invest into when it feels it needs to.
“I just think that it’s something that’s now moving into the mature phase,” he said on the lack of 3D’s presence from the company.
“You only have so much time at these things, and there was an attempt at yesterday’s conference to make it shorter – which I thought was excellent.”
“Not where it doesn’t make sense, but where appropriate – absolutely,” he added when asked if major first-party titles would still support titles.
