Microsoft has announced Xbox Live subscribers can sign up to participate in the 2012 Xbox LIVE Update Public Beta, in which members will help “fine-tune” the early build of XBL.

According to the announcement, numbers are limited, and if you are selected as a tester, an update will be pushed to your console once the public beta kicks off.

The update will contain select dashboard features, including:

  • Internet Explorer for Xbox
  • Personalized dashboard recommendations
  • Enhanced category search and discovery features

A console signed up for the program is expected to “remain fully compatible with standard retail consoles not in the program.”
