I can still remember how excited I used to get buying new school supplies every year. Does that make me a nerd? I don’t care! It was one of the best things about going back to school. I’m pretty sure that the only thing better than the feeling of purchasing brand new paper, notebooks and pens, would be helping others experience the same feeling. Has anyone in the history of the world ever completely used a pencil eraser? I doubt it. Why not turn it into a cool and crafty rubber stamp? I LOVE this moustache design. Looks like something Justin Bieber would stamp on his upper lip.
Pencils--Beads
How cute are these pencil beads? I can’t think of a better material to make friendship bracelets with, especially for those who stuck by you through the ups and downs of a difficult school year. And if you’re a Forever Alone-type, heck, make it for yourself! Ain’t no shame in being your own BFF!
Crayons—Gifts
Who doesn’t have a box full of half broken crayons lying around? Now that you’ve mastered coloring inside the lines (I hope) it’s time to up your crayon game! You can melt those suckers and create all kinds of cool new things, including new crayons molded into cool shapes. Or turn crayon shavings into charming hearts with the help of an iron. That’ll get your crushes attention! Girls are impressed with guys who get all Martha Stewart to impress them. I think.
Paper—Lamp Shade
The one thing you have the most of at the end of the year is various paper products. Sorry, trees! Why not turn that trash into a treasure? This lampshade craft is pretty groovy, I have to say. You can use old textbooks or sheet music, pretty much anything. The best part is I’m pretty sure you’ll never end up on Hoarders if you actually make your junk useful. That and keeping your living cat collection to under 5.
Paper Clips--Jewelry
Seriously…aren't paper clips one of the best inventions ever? Google ‘uses for paper clips' and you’ll see what I’m talking about. This ring is one of the most creative crafts I’ve seen so far. I guess when my dad gave me a box of paper clips as a stocking stuffer one year, he wasn’t being cheap, he was being ahead of his time and cheap!
Rubber Bands—Super Bouncy Balls
Considering the fact that rubber bands don’t come in a pack size less than 15,000 (best guess) and that super bouncy balls are super fun, I think we have what we call a win/win situation. Plus you can still use the rubber bands when you need to do whatever it is they’re supposed to be used for. I honestly don’t recall ever using one but for some reason I always have them on hand.
EVERYTHING!--Art Supplies
You’d be amazed by all the super cool art people are doing with old school supplies. I’m pretty sure we have Project Runway to thank for that! I’m no art collector but I seriously covet these crayon Star Wars sculptures. They would look so cool displayed next to my Tauntaun sleeping bag and my Chewbacca back pack. Well maybe ‘cool’ isn’t the right word…
