Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat sequel lands on Kickstarter

New World Interactive has announced a Kickstarter to fund a sequel to the free-to-play Source mod Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat.

The PC and Mac title, Insurgency 2, will be developed upon reaching the firm’s crowd-funding goal of $180,000.

“With more and more projects popping up, some feel Kickstarter is getting flooded,” said Jeremy Blum, founder of New World Interactive. “We see it as growing, and the projects needing to adapt to a both larger and wiser fan base.

“We’ve been listening to the community, playtesting daily and doing our best to make Insurgency 2 the FPS game we always wanted to play.”

The funding goal will cover the cost to finish the game and bring strategic first-person shooter to market.

The game will feature scalable HD graphics with new and improved levels and gameplay as well as new, powerful weaponry, in a tactical action package.

Insurgency was released five years ago and was downloaded one million times in its first week.
