Funcom has announced a round of lay-offs which could influence half of the firm’s worldwide staff, according to Polygon.
A Funcom representative confirmed the cuts, but not the number of redundancies, which were announced during the studio’s investor update early this month.
“As we announced in the stock notice that went out on August 10, Funcom is in the process of reducing operational costs and this process includes temporary layoffs as well as other initiatives,” a statement handed to the site read.
“As we are currently in the middle of this process we can not provide any further comment at the present time. Rest assured however that we have long-term plans for the company and that we remain fully committed to all of our games.”
The cuts are part of a previously announced “cost-adjustment initiatives.”
