Licensed games are known for being pretty terrible. My first thought when I hear that there's a new video game based on something that I like is that it's going to suck. Sometimes games turn out to be more than just a quick cash in. It turns out that if you make something good then people will play it. Here are the best video games based on cartoons.
Beavis and Butthead (GENESIS)
This game combines simple side scrolling action with item collection puzzles. The plot is about collecting pieces of your GWAR tickets. The best thing about this game is how the puzzle use Beavis and Butthead logic to be solved that often involves chainsaws, fried rats, and explosions. Weapons include burps, farts, and a baseball bat with a boxing glove on the end. Now that Beavis and Butthead is back on the air, I think we deserve a sequel.
The Simpsons (Arcade)
This is considered to be one of the best multiplayer arcade games. You can play as anyone from The Simpson clan except for Maggie. That's the game's only problem. I want to be able to shoot projectile pacifiers.
Ducktales (NES)
This game is great not only for the fun gameplay, but also for the awesome music. Go on Youtube and you can find a plethora of remixes, covers, and mash-ups. In fact, there are so many, that I haven't gotten through all of them on my playlist and it's been over three years. Please someone help me.
South Park (N64)
It would be cool enough if just just got a gun the shot projectile cows. This game takes it one step further and makes the cows land on your opponent's head. There is nothing more satisfying than making someone rage quit over repeatedly getting their head stuck up a cow's butt.
G. I. Joe (NES)
This game is super fun. It plays sort of like a Contra game where you can change between different characters at will. My only problem with this game is how different the bad guys are from the real series. There is no way anyone in Cobra could ever shoot you. Those dudes have worse aim than Stormtroopers.
Aladdin (GENESIS)
This game used actualy Disney animation which is why it looks so good and why today it looks so dated. You get bonus points every time you see something that is sort of racist. You get a lot of bonus points.
Dragonball Z Budokai 3 (Playstation 2)
This game has almost every character you could imagine from the cartoon series. On top of that, it's actually really fun to play. The best part about this fighting game is that the fights last for a reasonable amount of time and don't just reset to the very beginning right as the fight is about to finish. I'm looking at you, Cartoon Network.
Castle Of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse (GENESIS)
Yes, this is the third Disney game on the list. I swear I'm not some Disney nut. They've released tons of games and were bound to get some right. This one is a rip-off of Super Mario Bros. You even jump on your enemies' heads to defeat them. Luckily for the general public, it's a really good rip-off. Unluckily for the public, it's just as hard to stop playing as a Mario game.
