I'm starting to think that we're fundamentally misunderstanding the phrase "YOLO". Maybe I jsut follow idiots on Twitter, but I only see it being used right after something dangerous and life-threatening. Putting a hand into the zoo's tiger pit? YOLO. Ice skating without a helmet but with a handful of knives? YOLO.
I do NOT want to die without putting my hand in a plugged-in blender.

There is perhaps no greater misuse of the phrase than what happened Sunday in Ontario, California—while out with his friends who were drinking and driving, Twitter user ink2flashyy tweeted "Drunk af going 120 drifting corners #F*ckIt YOLO". Moments later, the car he was riding in ran a red light, hit a car, hit a wall and rolled over. All five passengers were killed.
While it wasn't ink2Flashy himself driving, his blatant, almost mocking tone makes it seem as though he has a disregard for his life. That's the opposite of YOLO. That's YOLOSGIOWASAP.
Let's see if we cam get it trending!
YOLO shouldn't be an excuse to dumb, dangerous things that will get you killed. Does anyone really understand what it means. You Only Live Once— an undeniable fact unless you're a messisah or James Bond.

So please. I implore you. Don't drink and drive. And certainly don't sneer at the danger you're putting yourself in afterwards. YOLO implies that we should take advantage of the opportunity we've been given, that life is fleeting, impermanent. We should try out new things, but that doesn't mean we should take the risk of losing said life. That'd be like going to the world's best buffet and instead of trying every kind of food they have you scream swear words at a family and get kicked out.
Simply unnecessary!
