2am: the bewitching hour on college campuses across the world. Stressed, broke students tear themselves away from their studies (or “studies”) in search of sustenance. But where? Fourth meals can be hard to come by, especially when you’re too swamped (or “swamped”) to leave your room. Here are some scavenging tips for makeshift late-night dorm food.
Easy Mac And Soy Crisps
Easy Mac is God’s gift to college students; we know this. The drawback, however, is that once you’ve eaten Easy Mac, you’re like, dammit, I just ate Easy Mac. Couldn’t even make the effort to find real (stick-of-butter-filled) mac ‘n’ cheese. You’re still hungry, and now you feel guilty for the amount of random excess calories you’ve consumed. Reach for some Soy Crisps to top you off – you’ll feel semi-healthy afterward!
Ramen And A Chocolate-Covered Powerbar
If you’re going to indulge in a late-night meal, why not put some forethought into making it the best experience possible? Balance out the saltiness of ramen with the sweetness of a Powerbar follow-up, and voila, you’re practically ready for Top Chef. (Okay, maybe the Powerbar was designed as a nutritious replacement meal and the ramen was totally superfluous, but, uh, YOLO).
Nutella And Anything
You could cover your laptop in Nutella and this principle would still work. Just stick your fist in the jar and call it a night. You might have to anyway now that your laptop is covered in Nutella.
Pop Secret + Raisin Bran
The raisins will be such delightful teeny surprises! And if you’re gonna stuff your face, might as well be productive and work dat fiber in there. Get things moving. I know what that dining hall food is doing to you.
Red Bull And A Hot Pocket
Hot Pockets are useful and sometimes good… but sometimes the chicken in there is chewy. Nothing worse than tough microwave meat when you’re already feeling kinda pathetic. Wash it down with a Red Bull – it’ll get rid of the taste, and you’ll regain your wings! DO ALL THE READING!
Anything That Fits In A Dining Hall Cup
Are you allowed to take food out of the dining hall? Ehhh, one of those gray areas. But you’d be surprised at what meals will fit in those paper cups by the water station. This takes a little advance planning, but it’ll be so worth it in the middle of the night when you pull out that fully loaded turkey sandwich. It’ll totally taste good as new once you unfold it/flatten it out. Look, Mom, I’m an adult now!
