Killing Floor has been overrun by redneck zombies, which are the worst kind of zombie because they started off missing teeth before they turned, and have a tendency to not pronounce words right. I wonder if their moans and groans have that distinct accent as well… no matter. They need to die regardless.
Tripwire Interactive is bringing folks the Hillbilly Horrors event, which started yesterday and runs through November 6. The game is also on sale for 75% off and the game’s DLC is 50% off.
The Hillbilly Horrors map contains a “redneck homestead complete with cars on blocks, junk laying everywhere, hidden secrets, and populated, of course, by bloodthirsty zombie hillbillies.” Hell yes.
It comes with 15 new achievements, six for the duration of the event only which allows players to unlock the Grim Reaper as a playable character.
Participants will also be “as happy as a tornado in a trailer park” when they nab the four new weapons: the MKb42 assault rifle, a WWII trench shotgun with incendiary rounds, the Vlad 9000 nail gun, and a specialist grenade for the Medic that will heal teammates and poison zombies.
The guy in a chicken suit is also back this year as character DLC but this time out he’s a cyborg chicken known as The Chickenator.
Tripwire is also giving modders the opportunity to earn cash. The Community Weapons Pack from the IJC modding team will be available as DLC, with money going to the folks who created it.
The firm hopes this “opens the door to a whole new relationship with the community…one in which we’re able to expand the new Killing Floor Steam Workshop so that the players have far more control of what makes it into the game and we can reward the best community content makers directly.”
The first community weapon pack contains:
- The Scythe: This is pretty much what you would expect. Long handle. Long blade. Good for reaping corn, wheat – or shambling monsters.
- Tommy Gun: The Thompson sub-machine gun is an absolute classic of design and functionality, beloved by soldiers and gangsters for decades!
- Flare revolver: A standard flare gun pops signal flares down range. This one ignites them on the way out the barrel for a little extra fun.
- Buzzsaw Bow: This is no ordinary crossbow. Why shoot little bolts when you can send a circular saw blade spinning instead?
