Marvelous launches MarvDev indie developer support program

MarvDev has been launched by Marvelous AQL Europe in order to help independent developers with funding, game design, marketing and operations.

According to Develop, MarvDev will help western, indie free-to-play smartphone developers release their games through the App Store.

“With Japan and Asia’s free-to-play markets being considerably more established than western ones, there are clear lessons to be learned, and benefits to partnering with a Japanese/Western team to maximize a game’s potential,” reads the statement on Marvelous’ website.

“What we’re seeing is that, despite certain cultural aesthetic and gameplay differences, the core social mechanics seem to work worldwide. Western developers excel at creating fun, polished games, but may need help keeping people playing, and getting people paying. That’s where we can help.”

Marvelous noted that Japanese mobile and social games tend to retain their players more than in the wets, and the average revenue gained per praying user averages over $200 a month.
