Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition should be out before the end of summer 2013, according to the game’s creative director Trent Oster.
Speaking with Red Bull UK, Oster said once Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition is out at the end of the month, the team will get to cracking on the sequel.
“The instant Baldur’s Gate is completed most of our team is ready to start work on [it], with a couple holding back to continue to add features and support the fans,” he said. “We’re planning on shipping [it] in 2013, hopefully before the end of summer.
“I want to enjoy some sun this year – 2012 was a write off.”
Oster also reiterated that he’d like develop Baldur’s Gate 3, but it would be “dependent on the success of the Enhanced Editions.”
There’s also still hope for iPhone users who would wish to get their hands on the first title, Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition: Oster said the team has it “running on an iPhone 4,” and is considering a UI revamp so the game would be playable on a small screen.
“Our current version actually works on the iPhone 4, but the text is too small to read and the buttons are impossible to press, so we’re not going to ship it,” says Oster. “We believe with some UI rethinking we might be able to do an iPhone version in the future.”
Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition will run you $9.99/£6.25 when it released for iPad, Android tablets, and PC on November 28.
