Firefall to hold public beta this weekend

By Brenna Hillier

Firefall will open its doors to all comers on Friday, hosting a number of special events.

The open stress test kicks off on Friday, January 25, and runs for 48 hours. You don’t need a key or an invite to participate, so expect it to be quite busy.

Friday’s test is the first of three planned stress test sessions this quarter, with another scheduled for February and March respectively. It follows on from a few held late last year, during which European servers were added.

Each weekend test includes some special features not available during closed testing times. This week, Red 5 is hosting the following events:

  • Skillshot Contest (Video) – Record and submit an epic skillshot video for a chance to win a prize pack filled with Firefall SWAG and Razer gear
  • Skillshot Contest (Screen) – Screencap a stylish skillshot for a chance at being featured on the official Firefall Facebook page
  • Community Unlock – Play during the weekend to unlock an exclusive, customized Battleframe decal
  • Livestream – Join a special episode of Firefall Live on TwitchTV to see Athene and Reese owning the competition with their own skillshots

A trailer highlighting these features and recent new content is below. For more detailed information on this week’s and upcoming beta tests, visit the Firefall beta test hub.

Apart from these open beta weekends, its quite hard to get into Firefall; it hands out invites very slowly and favours a community-led approach, keeping crews tight. You can buy your way in with a Founder’s Package, though.

Firefall is free-to-play and will launch later this year.
