Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut will probably be the only port the former Xbox 360 exclusive receives, as creator Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro is ready to move on.
“If I had the chance to bring Deadly Premonition to these other formats, I might work on it. But I’d like to start a new project,” Suehiro apparently told MCV.
“It might be Deadly Premonition 2 or a prequel or something.”
Bad news for fans hoping to see the classic horror effort escape consoles, and somewhat incongruous with Swery’s ambition to break the game out of its niche cult classic status.
“Deadly Premonition has been a cult game for core fans but I believe it can be much more accessible for all kinds of gamers. By making the Director’s Cut, new players will be able to discover this unique world much easier than before,” he said.
The Director’s Cut has new content, improved controls, DLC, Move support and upgraded visuals, and arrives on PlayStation 3 at the end of March. A follow-up project has been touted multiple times.
