King’s Quest fan remake group Kickstarts all-new adventure

The group formerly known as Anonymous Game Developers has come out of the woodwork, and opened a Kickstarter for a new project.

Himalaya Studios is behind Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchman’s Mine, but has confessed it’s the fan group known as AGD, responsible for remakes of King’s Quest, King’s Quest 2 and 3, and Quest for Glory 2.

The team is now seeking $65,000 through Kickstarter for Mage’s Initiation, which it’s calling a “Sierra style” adventure/RPG hybrid.

Mage’s Initiation tells the story of D’arc, a 16 year old in training to become a Mage of Iginor. To prove himself, he must roam the countryside of Iginor, completing three major tasks.

Himalaya says it could self-fund the project but development time will be blown out by years. However, the crowdfunding campaign will also presell a boxed collector’s edition, allowing the indie group to avoid the hassle of setting up an online store.

Mage’s Initiation is expect on PC, and has been submitted to Steam Greenlight.
