Blackguards is a turn based strategy from Daedalic

Indie adventure specialist Daedalic has announced its first foray into another genre, with turn-based strategy effort Blackguards.

Blackguards boasts “a significantly darker story than you usually find in Daedalic games”, with players taking on the role of a convicted murderer. The player’s companions are “scoundrels and thieves like the half-elf Niam (and her latent drug addiction) or the lecherous wizard Zurbaran”.

The turn-based strategy has more than 170 unique maps and “hordes” of enemies, strung together by major and side-quests. All up, Daedalic estimates the campaign accounts for about 40 hours of gameplay, and promises an emphasis on strong storytelling as well as tactical thinking.

Expect Blackguards on PC in the third quarter. Some art and two screenshots are below.

Daedalic is probably best known as one of a group of indies who went public with a dispute with Lace Mamba, but it also recently announced a new adventure called Memoria. It was also behind Chaos on Deponia, Harvey’s New Eyes and Chains of Satinav.
