Larian Studios wants your help to make Divinity: Original Sin as good as it can be.
Divinity is a well-loved series, and Larian’s budget seems modest, so you’d expect a publisher to be interested, but the developer says the following list of features has never made it past the greenlight process:
- Divinity: Original Sin is an Isometric cRPG
- You can play in single player mode but also in cooperative multiplayer mode
- It’s a real epic CRPG so even in multiplayer, you’re engaging in much more than just combat and item fever. A nifty cooperative dialog system, a highly reactive world, a deep character development system and plenty of choice and consequence situations see to that.
- You can create your own RPG adventures with our powerful RPG editor and share or play them with friends
- Combat is very tactical. It is turn-based and features things like skill and spell combos, attacks of opportunity, action points and much more.
- Exploration is greatly rewarded.
- You can develop your character(s) to fit your playstyle using our classless skill and stats system.
- There are countless item interactions and item combinations waiting to be discovered.
- No Divinity game is complete without music composed by the brilliant Kirill Pokrovsky.
Thankfully, the success of previous Divinity games left Larian with enough cash to begin work on Original Sin, and it decided to make a push for self-publication. Two years on, the RPG is nearly complete, but Larian wants to expand its development team and push ahead to add extra polish.
That’s where you come in, of course; the developer is after $400,000. The extra funds will be sued to “increase the amount of interesting things you can do in the world, as much as possible” and “increase the depth and diversity” – more choices and consequences, quests and puzzles, areas to explore and discover, NPCs and creatures.
If Larian passes its goal it will add stretch features such as more character customisation, party members with extensive backgrounds, playable races, game editor features, levels of interactivity and skill classes.
A large variety of physical and digital rewards are available as well as an extensive description of the game, so visit Kickstarter to check it out.
Divinity: Original Sin is expected in November 2013 on PC, with Linux and Mac versions pending.
