Internet wizard Superannuation today made a new post, and the highlight, probably, involves the shooter version of XCOM that has been in development at 2K Marin for a while now. We haven’t seen any updates on that title in a long time, and Superannuation’s data suggests it might be because they’re dropping the XCOM brand from the game.
Here is what he writes: “Last week, Take-Two registered the domains thebureau-game.com, thebureau-game.net, whathappenedin62.com, and whathappenedin62.net. These domains seem to hint at a rebranding of 2K’s beleaguered XCOM shooter, which places players in the shoes of an FBI agent in 1962.”
That’d certainly be an interesting twist, seeing as how XCOM: Enemy Unknown was at least a critical hit (we don’t know how many copies were sold) and so the brand is doing well right now. And you know how those video game companies love branding. Maybe we’ll here more about this title this week at GDC or in a couple months at E3.
