Moebius: first trailer for Jane Jensen’s new adventure

By Brenna Hillier

Moebius is the new game from Gabriel Knight and Gray Matter creator Jane Jensen, and at long last we’re getting a look at the crowdfunded indie effort.

Moebius is headed to iPad, Linux, Mac and PC and is expected later this year, with a first proper preview session expected at E3 2013. It concerns the adventures of one Malachi Rector, a “prestigious antiquities expert with an uncanny knowledge of history”, who assesses artifacts for auction houses and collectors. Recruited by a government agency known only as F.I.S.T. to investigate the death of a politician’s wife, Malachi travels to Venice to put his photographic memory to work. Things are more than they seem, though, with other top secret organisations interested in what Malachi keeps between his ears.

Moebius is the first game from Jensen’s Pinkerton Road, which was described as the first crowdfunded developer. Rather than back a single game, those who signed on to Jensen’s Kickstarter actually funded the studio as a whole.

The actual day-to-day development of Moebius comes courtesy of Phoenix Online, best known for their King’s Quest fan game The Silver Lining and the Cognition series, overseen by Pinkerton Road while it works on an as-yet unannounced title for a publisher.

Pinkerton Road backers currently have access to an alpha build of Moebius, but Jensen has requested that footage not be shared, as its still not ready for public display. In the meantime, you can check out its new website, or browse the images and trailer below.
