DarkSeas has launched a Kickstarter for a Road Rash-style game titled Road Redemption.

The game has your Road Rash inspired motorcycle-combat racing along with “insane crashes, destructible environments, AI, ragdoll physics, and online multiplayer.”

Road Redemption takes place in a “nightmare version of the American midwest” where a recently-paroled felon is striving to work his way back up from the bottom of his old motorcycle club.

As he rises in the ranks, it becomes clear that “not all of his brothers are acting in the best interests of the club,” and may even have been the reason he was sent to prison for 8 years in the first place.

Eventually, he will lead his own faction and fight to control “territory and drug distribution routes in a war for survival and supremacy.” The resulting power struggle will have multiple outcomes depending on the player’s actions.

Road Redemption has been in the works on Unity 4 since early 2012, with preliminary design work started in 2009, and the studio behind it is made up developers which created titles for 2K Sports, Bioware, Disney, EA, Gameloft, Lucasarts, SEGA, Sony, and Tequila Works.

The game is slated for a 2014 release on its primary platforms Linux, Mac and PC in 2014.

So far, $21,056 has been pledged by 685 backers towards the $160,000 goal. There are 28 days left on the counter. Hit up the link for more information as well as reward tiers.
