Sega Studios Australia to close

By Brenna Hillier

Sega has announced the closure of Sega Studios Australia, the Brisbane studio behind Stormrise.

The publisher confirmed the move with Kotaku, giving little information.

The developer will be shuttered sometime “later this year”; as yet, there’s no word on how many employees will be affected or if they’ll be eligible for transfer to international offices.

Once known as The Creative Assembly Australia, the team’s last release was London 2012: The Official Video Game of the Olympic Games.

There are very few traditional developers remaining in Australia, where development is prohibitively expensive.

Thanks, Gamespot.
