Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 will contain some “elements” similar to Dark Souls, according to producer Yoshinori Kitase, in terms of “severity” at least.
Speaking with Famitsu, Kitase said players will also have to carefully manage cash and other resources. So while it will contain a “higher degree of freedom” than its predecessors, “thinking economically will be very important,” added director Motomu Toriyama.
“If I were to describe the gameplay, I would say there are some elements with the severity of Dark Souls,” said Kitase.
The two also confirmed that the 13-day in-game time limit is the maximum amount of time players can have as the game starts with a seven-day limit.
Players must complete all missions and quests to earn the full 13 days.
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 is out in the west during February 2014 on PS3 and Xbox 360.
